Description

Kent County Council (the Council) is the largest local authority in England covering an area of 3,500 square kilometres. It has an annual expenditure of over £1bn on goods and services and a population of 1.3m. The Council provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with 12 district councils and 289 parish/town councils. The Council consists of four directorates • Social Care, Health and Wellbeing • Education and Young People's Services • Growth, Environment and Transport • Strategic and Corporate Services This requirement is for Recovery, Storage & Disposal of Abandoned Vehicles within the Growth, Environment and Transport Directorate. This service involves the recovery, transportation and temporary storage of Abandoned Vehicles found within the Kent boundary. Abandoned Vehicles are reported by District Councils directly to the Provider. Once collected by the Provider, registered vehicle owners are the contacted by Kent County Council, to ascertain whether they wish to reclaim their vehicle. The provider will be expected to facilitate the collection of reclaimed vehicles from their sites by members of the public. Should the owner not wish to reclaim their vehicle, the Provider will be responsible for disposing of the vehicle. Abandoned Vehicles to be recovered may include Cars and Caravans. The contract is anticipated to commence upon 1st September 2017 and will continue for a period of 24 months, unless terminated in accordance with the Conditions of Contract on the Kent Business Portal, with an option to extend in two phases; the first for 1 year (12 months) , and then for a further 1 year (12 months), resulting in a potential total contract term of 4 years (48 months).
