Description
The study shall identify: • where the grid will become constrained in future offshore renewable energy development scenarios in Wales, whilst also taking into account other power stations that could come online or be decommissioned, e.g. the proposed Wylfa Newydd power station. All future scenarios will be outlined by ORE Catapult. • potential grid solutions to the constraints identified. Novel approaches, such as interconnectors, power to gas and other vectors should also be considered. • where the greatest benefits are found from carrying out grid reinforcements in areas where constraints are found, by means of a cost-benefit analysis. • Quantify the benefits that accrue, in terms of energy security and economic value, from increasing the diversity of Wales' and the UK's range of offshore wind locations.
