Description
The requirement is for an Operational Ration Heater System (ORHS) which consists of portable metal stoveand solid fuel blocks to enable an individual to boil water and heat military field rations in a range of weatherconditions. The solid fuel must be Ethanol based (Bio-Fuel) any other fuels such as Hexamine will not beaccepted. 1: Heating Performance - The ORHS must be capable of boiling 500ml water to a temperature of 100C instandard issue MOD equipment (mess tins) within 11 minutes at an air temperature of -8C to +40C and sustainthe temperature for a period of 5 minutes. 2: Tactical Performance - The ORHS must function within 10 minutes of being immersed in water, this is to allowindividuals to prepare a meal after wading through water. 3: Tactical Performance - The ORHS must be as small and light as possible. The total weight (Stove & Fuel)must be max. 330g with sufficient fuel to heat a total of 6 meals or hot drinks. 4: Tactical Performance - The ORHS fuel must be tactically viable - smoke, noise, smell and light must be keptto a minimum. 5: Tactical Performance - The ORHS must be able to operate in poor climatic conditions and operate in wet andwindy weather. 6: Compatibility - The ORHS must be compatible with VIRTUS and OSPREY utility pouch and must be carriedin a utility pouch (16.5cm x 10cm x 7.5cm) and still b able to heat a minimum of 6 meals or hot drinks in a 24Hrperiod 7: Safety - The ORHS must be able to be safely transported in bulk by rail, air, road or sea.
