Description

WORKS CONTRACT AT PORTLAND PORT, DORSET INVITATION TO CONTRACTORS TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS TO BE SHORTLISTED Portland Port Ltd announce their intention to award a Works contract for the expansion of their existing Deep Water Berth. This will be a 'design and construct' contract based on NEC3 Conditions of Contract and awarded through a process of competitive tendering from a short list of pre-qualified tenderers. Tenderers will be invited to submit proposals against a design concept and an output performance specification. Portland Port Ltd will obtain all necessary regulatory licensing consents The existing 1978 'island berth', with a suspended reinforced concrete deck on steel piles and an access causeway, is to be supplanted by an extended area of fully enclosed reclamation fronted by a new berth with alongside depth of -12.m CD. It will be a multi-purpose facility serving, amongst others, large cruise liners, 'Panamax' bulk carriers, and RFA vessels. Suitably qualified contractors interested in being considered for shortlisting are hereby invited to submit a pre-qualification application. They may obtain pre-qualification documents in early August 2021 by email application to The General Manager, Operations, Mr Alex Hayes, at a.hayes@portland-port.co.uk, and these will detail the scope of the Works and the information required of an Applicant. In general, however, the contract will be conducted in English and companies eligible for shortlisting will be able to demonstrate a sound financial standing, and technical experience and competence in the nature of Works to be undertaken, including submission of information on similar projects successfully completed. It is anticipated that the tender process will result in an award of contract by end March 2022, with completion being required by end February 2023. Applicants are invited to visit the site to acquaint themselves with the current situation. Prior arrangement for such visits should be made through The General Manager, Landside Operations.
