Description
Birmingham City Council Public Health are intending to commission a Breastfeeding Peer Support Service and we would like to understand the market availability and interest in providing this service. This service will provide culturally sensitive support for parents to initiate and continue breastfeeding and aims to promote maternal and infant health, emotional wellbeing and responsive feeding, while respecting informed choices not to breastfeed and ensuring safe formula feeding support. Our intention is that the service will be available 7 days a week, city-wide and will be delivered by trained peer supporters, including local parents with breastfeeding experience. It will offer antenatal education and postnatal support delivered in community venues and parents homes, as well as a support helpline. The Provider will work in partnership with maternity units, Family Hubs and health professionals. In 2024, there were 15,561 live births in Birmingham. NOTE: All information provided will be treated confidentially and securely. Information will not be shared outside of the commissioning teams. For clarity, this is a Soft Market Testing exercise to gather information and is not an invitation to provide a quotation. If you are interested in this soft market testing please click on the link below to complete the questionnaire by 10am on 15th October 2025. https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=Z86aaeTSzUuzA9K74rm78bYehJsJPj9JkvtJ9lADkcVUMjJENzVDRzczUUE4R1FUR00zQ0ZFOTdWTi4u
