Description

Appleby Town Council is seeking talented and knowledgeable building restoration specialists to repair our historic Moot Hall, a Grade II* listed building in the centre of Appleby in Westmorland Cumbria. The Moot Hall is considered to date from 1596 and has been in continual use ever since as the meeting place of local government. It continues to be owned and operated by Appleby Town Council - the Council offices and Council Chamber are on the first floor. The building also houses the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) and a retail unit. The project comprises re-rendering, roofing and window repairs together with internal plastering and joinery works. The main element of this project is anticipated to be the removal of the failing cementitious render and its replacement with a lime rough cast, along with other urgent works to bring the building back into a state of good, sustainable repair. You must be familiar with traditional building techniques such as hot lime works and have extensive experience of conserving listed properties and working closely with clients and Conservation accredited architects
