Description

The Authority requires surgical team training that is achieved in the main by a 5-day Military Operational Specialist Team Training (MOSTT) course. This is delivered by a military faculty comprising personnel from the Defence Medical Services (DMS). The Tenderer is to provide facilities in support a minimum of 2 and up to a maximum of 4 MOSTT courses per annum to accommodate a maximum of 54 participants (i.e. 6 teams of 9 participants) per course. Key areas that the Tenderer must provide: a. Source, supply and maintain appropriate resources to deliver a training course aimed at preparing delegates to deliver military Damage Control Resuscitation and Surgery, to prepare the patient/s for critical care transportation in a deployed team. b. Provide a Human Tissue Authority licensed surgical skills workshop facility to enable surgeons to undertake technical skills training on human cadavers. c. Supply, prepare, maintain and dispose of up to 3 (fresh or thawed from frozen) full human cadavers in accordance with the Human Tissue Act 2004 and requirements of the UK Human Tissue Authority for 2.5 days for surgical technical skills training. d. Supply, prepare, maintain and dispose of up to 3 (fresh or thawed from frozen) human cadaveric torsos in accordance with the Human Tissue Act 2004 and requirements of the UK Human Tissue Authority to enable technical skills training for anaesthetists and Emergency Medicine doctors in emergency thoracotomy for one half day. e. Provide 10-20 prosected human specimens and deliver demonstrations of anatomy for non-medically qualified personnel and to deliver demonstrations of anatomy to Anaesthetists in support of Regional Anaesthesia Teaching. f. Provide 5-10 prosected specimens and deliver demonstrations of canine anatomy for medically qualified personnel. Such specimens should facilitate the same learning and understanding as required for advanced trauma life support measures plus key surgical anatomy differences between human and canine patients for vascular access, cavity access, and haemorrhage control procedures in the chest and abdomen. g. The Contractor should provide a prepared surgical set per cadaveric table and a further 'clean' set for the simulation sessions. h. Provide two high-fidelity adult models for neurosurgical training simulation. i. Provide an audio system that allows all area coverage within a tented environment through a set of strategically placed microphones which feedback to a mixing desk allowing the operator to select the best microphone and feed it through the visual system. j. A facility must have an appropriately sized room to erect a tent with the dimensions of 5.5 x 7.5 metres and height 3.5 metres, which is licenced for the use of cadavers for complex hybrid simulation.
