Description
The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a tertiary oncology hospital that provides a GFR service to both internal and external patients. The Nuclear Medicine department uses unsealed sources of radioactivity to perform a range of diagnostic imaging and non-imaging investigations together with radionuclide therapy. As part of the equipment replacement programme, the Trust is looking to procure a second gamma counter to count 99mTc DTPA plasma sample, obtained at specified intervals following the administration of the radiopharmaceuticals. Although it will be used mainly to count 99mTc DTPA, this does not preclude the use of the gamma counter for other radionuclides or radionuclide in medium other than plasma. The gamma counter must be capable of counting high-energy gamma emitter (up to 1000keV) as well as low activity and environmental samples. The gamma counter is used to count up to 80 samples per day within a 13 hour period.
