Description

RSPB Pulborough Brooks is a large nature reserve found in West Sussex. It sits within the South Downs National Park and is part of the Arun Valley. Recent works on the reserve have meant we have good control of water levels, but there are still improvements to be made. New rills/foot drains will provide better feeding opportunities. Culverting round the willow bed will create a greater area to store water to help sustain the wetland into drier summer months. Bunding will ensure access around the site for management and grazing and will ensure hydrological compartments are clearly defined. This work will help make the site more resilient to the wetter winters and drier summers we are seeing as a result of climate change. Wet features and scrapes will help hold water during drier times and replacing broken culverts will create better water flow and control.
