Description
A contractor is sought to undertake repair works to the tower and chancel roof on the Grade I Listed St Mary's Heritage Centre, Gateshead. Tyne & Wear Building Preservation Trust is a small charity that has recently taken on a 99 Lease for the premises and received funding from the Community Renewal Fund to undertake these works. The works include the following: • Installation of a ladder access from the tower first level up to the roof with fall arrest system to the ladder and access gantry, and a fall arrest system Tower roof. • The external decoration of the louvres to the Tower. • The replacement of broken and missing slates to the Chancel roof, and the formation of mortar fillets to the watertables of the eastern gable wall of the Chancel. • Pointing up of a number of cracks to the arch stones to the eastern glazed entrance to the Nave. A Schedule of Works has been prepared and will be released to up to 6 parties who meet the quality criteria. Interested parties are asked to send three case studies of relevant projects to bev@twbpt.org.uk describing how they are relevant to the works required, explaining how they have managed the contract and range of technical skills employed and naming sub-contractors used. We would also ask that the interested party also explains how the size and type of contract fits within their operations and confirm they have the ability to undertake the work between September 2024 and November 2024.
