Description
Project Objectives - Improve the representativeness, accuracy and credibility of iRAP model use on the SRN by including the shunt crash type. - Better understand how shunt collisions are initiated, what influences their severity, and what measures we can take to reduce their number and severity. We will achieve this by 2025/2026 - Undertaking a review of previous work and undertake scoping review to inform modelling options - Select and prepare suitable data ready for modelling. - Undertake modelling to produce crash modification factors (CMFs) 2026/2027 - Use the outcomes from WP3 to create a shunt crash type within the iRAP model testbed - Undertake shunt crash type validation to ensure the shunt crash type works for other road networks as well as the SRN - Present findings, including the shunt crash type development work and the validation work, to iRAP Global Technical Committee.
