Prevention of Never Events related to misplaced nasogastric tubes

This authority required a supplier to produce a service transformation plan for adoption across the NHS by creating a standard operating procedure, quality assurance recommendations with an education and training programme to support Radiographers to deliver person centred care including the image acquisition, interpretation and initiation of actions whenever a misplaced NGT is present on an NGTXRay. This will prevent patient harm related to NGT misplacement by focusing skills and training in the professional group who perform the patient's clinical imaging examination, therefore minimising opportunities for error.
