Description
During the period of the Reconnect Project we have worked closely with Leisure Centres in the county. It has become apparent that there are difficulties in recruiting suitably qualified and experienced staff, and centres have staff shortages in general. Kent County Council would like to commission a project to alleviate this challenge and provide opportunities for young people to develop new skills and have opportunities to work in the sector. The project should: • Have strong links with the sector to enable progression into employment. • Provide access to qualifications to enable young people to gain employment in the sector. This could include life guarding, gym instructing, health and safety, first aid (this is not an exhaustive list). • Provide work experience. • Provide employability skills where necessary. • Work with students who are still in education to support progression into part time employment, although delivery should take place outside of school hours. • Provide support for young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). • Act as a broker to help young people secure employment after they have completed the project.
