Description
The works include the phased conservation of four distinct areas of Furness Abbey to improve structural stability and condition of the ruins. The four areas are: the Presbytery, the West Tower, the East range and the Infirmary. The works generally include the following: de-vegetation; grouting (presbytery only); pinning of stonework; galleting; hot lime pointing; replacement of moulded stone; replacement of asphalt roof covering (book cupboard on east range and infirmary roof only). The works will include a strong conservation in action element.
