Description
We are seeking to appoint a suitable architect to design and project manage the refurbishment of the Town Hall in Tenterden. It is a part II grade listed building located in the heart of the town, which has remained un-modernised for some time. It is widely used by the community for special functions, events and stage shows and it's the council's main administrative base. The aim is to make it a more efficient space for all its users and 'Future Proof' it for the next generation. In addition to upgrading its facilities and restoring it to its former glory we are looking to re-establish it as the civic and heritage focal point of Tenterden. The focus is to revive the appearance of the interiors and enable a far greater intensity of use and accessibility for the building to become more functional and entice more revenue. It is essential that the candidate is aware of the community use requirements of the council and the need for multi-functional office space when developing their design. This is an exciting project that will hopefully allow a high degree of design creativity. A separate part of this venture is to look in to the possibility of re-exposing the historic vaulted ceiling in the main Assembly Hall to improve the 'Wow Factor' of this room and assist in increasing its profitability. The Town Hall has a great deal of potential and it is hoped that the appointed contractor will have the vision necessary to bring this well loved building in to the 21st century, whilst retaining its historic presence.
