Description
NHS Calderdale, Greater Huddersfield and North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGS) intend to procure a Wheelchair service to carry out assessments and to supply and maintain wheelchairs. Wheelchair Services should aim to provide a person-centred, efficient, cost effective service that supports individuals, their families and Carers to achieve improved quality of life and independence through timely provision of the right wheelchair and associated equipment at the right time. The objectives of the Wheelchair Service include: 1. provide a quality Service with high levels of customer satisfaction 2. offer equality of access to Services for the community 3. support the implementation and provision of Personal Wheelchair Budgets 4. have an inclusive, robust approach to Service User communication, experience and involvement including the management of complaints 5. provide Commissioners with timely and accurate information on changing patterns of demands and levels of need for wheelchairs 6. provide the services at times and locations to suit the Service Users 7. provide a Service that achieves good value for money by prescribing the most cost effective wheelchair in order to meet the Health Needs of the Service User and to optimise reuse of wheelchairs, collection and recycling 8. communicate effectively with Service Users, their families and carers, taking on board their views and providing information regarding wheelchair provision procedures 9. ensure that suitable wheelchairs and related equipment and accessories are delivered on time first time, and are fit for purpose 10. offer a range of wheelchairs that are modern and keeps up to date with developing technology 11. ensure that there are no incidents of contamination or transfer of Health Care Associated Infections from any wheelchair or piece of equipment provided 12. maintain an exemplary safety record, with health and safety policies in place and implemented
