Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Programme (SHARP) Helmet Performance Testing - Phase 3

The Department for Transport does not have the facilities to carry out the physical testing that is needed to measure the ability of helmets to manage impact energy and is therefore looking to appoint a competent laboratory that will; I. Use high quality apparatus to subject a number of approved motorcycle helmets to a series of precise and accurate impact tests in the way prescribed and to the tolerances set out in this work specification. II. Supply the Department with a comprehensive technical file for each model of helmet that is tested. III. Provide the Department with technical advice relating to any test procedures or results provided. All helmets used as part of this programme will be selected and supplied by the Department for Transport.
