Description
South Tyneside Council ("the Council") has secured funding through Salix's Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) to support decarbonisation works at Simonside Outdoor Activity Centre, also known as Simonside Climbing Wall. The Council have appointed a provider via a call off from the Procurement for Housing Retrofit and Decarbonisation Dynamic Purchasing System (Lot 5) The primary objective of this project is to deliver reliable, low-carbon heating and domestic hot water to the Centre by removing the existing gas heating system and installing air source heat pumps and electric water heaters. A solar PV system will be installed to help offset electricity costs, enabling the new heating system to be partially powered by the Solar PV System. In addition, insulation improvements will enhance heat retention, reducing the need for prolonged operation of the heating system and further lowering energy consumption. The scope of works will include: • Gas boiler and gas heater removal • Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) installation • Solar PV installation • Electric water heater installation • External wall and roof insulating cladding works
