Description

The Ski Village in Sheffield is a 48 square metre area of land the Council is keen to redevelop; the Ski Village was an artificial ski slope complex in the Parkwood Springs area of Sheffield, which operated from 1988 until it was destroyed by fire in 2012. In June 2018 the Council revealed plans to redevelop the site as a centre for outdoor pursuits with the prospect of new jobs and community benefits in the locality. There have been historic problems of unauthorised occupations of the Council-owned land at the Ski Village site specifically on land bordered by Wallace Road and Pickering Road. The land is currently occupied by New Age Travellers (NAT's). There are approximately 75 caravans/trailers on site, though this number has varied over the past few years, housing around 30 people. The occupiers do not have permission to be on the land and a decision was made in 2015 under delegated powers to seek to recover possession.
