Description
The University is looking to procure a CO2 Laser Fibre Splicer to compliment its existing capability and expand its research. A CO2 laser fibre splicer is a specialized device used for joining optical fibres together using a CO2 laser as the heat source. These splicers are crucial in various industries, especially in high power fibre lasers, fibre communications and fibre optics. The splicer ensures optimal connectivity, minimizing signal loss, and maximizing the efficiency of fibre lasers crucial for applications such as cutting, welding, and material processing. The versatility of CO2 laser fibre splicers extends beyond mere splicing applications. These devices are adept at tapering single fibres and fibre bundles, a process that involves carefully altering the diameter of the fibres. Furthermore, CO2 laser fibre splicers prove invaluable in tasks such as attaching end-cups and preparing fibre ends. In addition to the CO2 laser source, the splicer comprises a fibre alignment and fibre holding mechanism, power and energy controls, splice quality monitoring, fibre compatibility, user interface and provides maintenance and support.
