Description
The primary aim of the service is to provide an offer of support to priority smokers in the population through a combination of behavioural support (individual face-to-face, digital applications, online, telephone, text message) and pharmacotherapy (e.g. patches) to manage nicotine withdrawal. This combined approach has been shown to be highly effective in improving long-term quit rates. In doing so it can achieve these objectives: • reduce the impact of smoking on health of individuals and those around them; • reduce inequalities by targeting groups where smoking prevalence is higher; • protect children from smoke by working with pregnant women and their partners, not to smoke. Children are three times more likely to smoke if their parent smokes; • reduce the impact of smoking related health conditions on the NHS and Adult Social Care.
