Description
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (The Trust) has awarded a contract for ongoing servicing and maintenance of the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and isolated power supply (IPS) systems across its main hospital sites: Nottingham City Hospital and the Queen's Medical Centre. The purpose of the Services is to ensure the Trust complies with Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) 06-01, with particular regard to requirements concerning tertiary power supplies. A copy of HTM 06-01 can be found via the link below: https://www.england.nhs.uk/publication/electrical-services-supply-and-distribution-htm-06-01/ The objective is to ensure the Trust's UPS/IPS systems work efficiently and effectively to provide a tertiary supply in the event of disruption to power at either site The Term is 24 months to 30 June 2026 with the option to extend for a further 36 months. This extension shall take the form of three 12 month incremental periods. Both the IPS and the UPS play a critical role in acting as the tertiary power supply, ensuring the reliability and safety of a hospital's electrical infrastructure. Together, these two components help to keep patients safe and provide continuity of care, even in the event of a power interruption. To ensure the UPS & IPS systems operate safely and reliably, the Trust requires a contractor to provide regular planned preventative maintenance to mitigate risks of faults or failures occurring as well as reactive maintenance services, such as call outs. A minor issue may have major consequences such as patient fatality as a result of loss of power during surgery. The Contract has been procured via direct award as permitted under Lot 3.2 (Standby Power Systems and Uninterruptible Power Supply) of the SBS10166 NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) Hard Facilities Management Framework https://www.sbs.nhs.uk/services/framework-agreements/hard-facilities-management-2-hard-fm/
