Description
UCL’s Stanmore Campus buildings are based on the grounds of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore. The project is to build a new institute, “the Biomedical Engineering Hub” (BEH) to house new facilities and also re-provide accommodation from UCL’s existing buildings on the site, which are earmarked for demolition as part of the separate RNOH Master-plan project, this demolition will be outside the scope of this contract. The new building will provide accommodation and facilities for the existing Medical Sciences and Engineering staff at Stanmore together with RNOH colleagues and expansion. There are growing collaborations between the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Engineering and the RNOH and the new BEH will allow these collaborations to grow and provide room for the expansion which is already occurring. There will be RNOH accommodation within the BEH for their Histopathology and R&I Departments.
