Description
In order to inform future statistics and research to be delivered through the BFI's Research and Statistics Fund ('the Fund'), the Fund is seeking a supplier of audience data for film audiences distributed in the Video on Demand (VoD) space, to include Subscription Video on Demand (SVoD) in particular, but also any other VoD services such as VoD catch up services, or from Pay TV providers. In addition, if available we are keen to know what the overlaps are between these audiences and cinemagoers, viewers of film on linear television channels and those who watch on DVD or via Transactional Video on Demand TVoD (rental) online services or using Electronic Sell Through (EST) sources. The chosen supplier will be expected to carry out data collection and quality assurance and deliver a high quality, relevant dataset in a timely manner. Please note we are not looking for a primary research approach to provide this data, we are looking for syndicated or industry accepted sources of data that are already established and made available to multiple clients on a subscription basis. The dataset is expected to cover the following: o a suite of audience demographics that are in line with the UK Census (age, sex, ethnicity, region). If possible, the dataset should include diversity data that is in line with protected characteristics covered by the Equalities Act (2010) as well as social class. Title level consumption data for films viewed on SVoD platforms. This should include, if possible, for SVoD platforms, an audit of the programme library, so that viewing can be matched against availability of titles. o Other VoD viewing data is also welcomed (note that we already have data supplied at title level for DVD, TVoD and EST rental and purchase, but we have little audience information, we are therefore keen to know more about the demographics of users of these platforms and how they cross cut against SVOD users/cinema goers/viewers of films on TV etc.). o Data should be delivered at least annually and preferably on a quarterly basis. Suppliers should indicate how they intend to supply the data e.g. in the form of Excel tables and whether or not the data is available in a format that would allow the BFI to conduct its own bespoke analyses using a tool such as eg. Telmar or Desktop Reporter. Please note that we would like to receive audience data collected for calendar years 2017, 2018 and 2019. This is to ensure that this data is in line with other data sources used for the BFI Statistical Yearbook . Additional responsibilities of the supplier will be in providing support that enables flexible use of the data for bespoke analysis to the BFI's specification. Please indicate if your proposal includes the option for the BFI to either use dedicated software or tools that are more widely available (e.g. Telmar, Survey Reporter, 'R') to view and use the data.
