Description
Historic England (HE) is the public body that helps people care for, enjoy and celebrate England's spectacular historic environment. A key part of this work is the support HE provides to both the heritage and adjacent sectors to develop capacity and skills, including within the construction sector whose workforce undertakes works on historic buildings. A key area of work in this area is around the retrofit of England's historic building stock, where there is a severe shortage in the skills required within the construction sector to make appropriate interventions to traditionally constructed buildings. We are therefore working to strengthen the qualifications and training landscape in this area. This project seeks to commission authors to produce technical texts for inclusion in a handbook that is under development in collaboration with Cadw and Historic Environment Scotland. Content is being sought against various thematic "work packages" that will then be brought together in a coherent handbook. Content supplied will also be adapted for use in further resources, such as slide decks and train-the-trainer delivery.
