Description

The Civil Contingency Act 2004 places a legal requirement on Northumbria Police to develop a business continuity plan. As a Category 1 responder, the Act requires that plans be maintained to ensure that the Force can continue to deliver critical aspects of its day-to-day functions in the event of internal or external factors impacting upon its liability to provide these functions. The need to provide pest control services forms a critical part of the response to these plans and it is the role of the pest control maintenance contractor to provide all-year-round pest control services both scheduled and reactive to ensure that pests are controlled to comply with the Act. The pest control services will cover all Northumbria Police owned and leased sites both internally and externally including any ancillary buildings or land within their boundaries. Buildings and sites vary in terms of size and layout and are located between Houghton-Le-Spring in the South to Berwick Upon Tweed in the North, and outwards past Hexham in the West. Most of the Employer's buildings are located in urban areas; however, Contractors need to be mindful that some buildings are located in rural areas of the region. The contract period is for an initial terms of 36 months, with 2 x 12 months optional extensions.
