Description
Poole Park is a Grade II listed late Victorian public park, owned and manged by BCP Council, lying just to the north of-east of Poole Town Centre. The tennis courts, set within the northern boundary, have been part of Poole Parks history from the outset. Originally grass, they were replaced with hard courts in 1948 and then upgraded to a tarmacadam surface in 2013. The tennis courts, comprising of 4 adult courts and 2 mini courts, are a significant part of the popularity of the park. The floodlight proposal is to extend playing and coaching opportunities into the winter months of the year and provide a sustainable facility. Each of the four adult courts will have floodlight provision that can be operated and booked individually, thus only the courts booked will be lit. The proposal is 12 columns painted green and galvanised to blend in with existing fencing and court surfacing. The fittings are specialist outdoor fittings designed to limit the light spill on the surrounding area.
