Description
The NAEI is a long-running programme which has been responsible for producing the UK's Greenhouse Gas and Air Quality Pollutant Inventories in order to meet its domestic and international reporting obligations and to inform decision makers on the impact of policies on emissions, and to aid in the development of new policies to help the UK meet its long-term climate and air quality targets. The core delivery of the inventory products and outputs take place in this Lot 1. These national reporting requirements necessitate the production of high-quality and consistent assessments of temporal trends and spatial patterns of GHG and AQP emissions. The contract must also meet the needs of national policy and public dissemination of environmental information, and this Lot includes delivery of specific outputs to meet these needs. This information must be reported annually as the UK GHGI and UK AQPI. The methods used in compiling and reporting emissions data must comply with the relevant international guidance and must be recorded in a publicly available and transparent way. Lot 1 of the NAEI includes strict requirements regarding QA/QC to ensure they align with the relevant UNFCCC and UNECE standards. The contract needs to maintain and improve the UK's NAEI system, resulting in continuous improvement to both the GHGI and AQPI, specifically in the identification and inclusion of new methodologies and data, incorporation of any amendments to reporting obligations and requests for new outputs to meet UK domestic research and policy needs.
