Description
The Secretary of State for Defence (the ‘Authority’) intends to enter into a contract with Ian Edgar (Liverpool) Ltd for the delivery of air crew lights. The proposed contract term is 1 year with an optional 1-year extension with an approximate contract value of £720,000. The Authority intends to award the Contract to Ian Edgar (Liverpool) Ltd for technical reasons. Ian Edgar (Liverpool) Ltd are the sole UK distributor for SureFire. Sure Fire are the world leader in providing tactical equipment that can meet the performance, reliability and durability that is required for air crew lights. The Air Crew Lights are required by aircrew for night operations when identifying target features of the landing zone, ensuring the landing area is safe and provide a visual indicator to waiting troops, therefore their use is imperative to ensure aircraft safety when landing in previously unseen areas. Due to the varied tasking and operational areas the fleet operate in, the lights must be able to withstand use in varied and hostile environments. SureFire lights have been identified as a like for like replacement, therefore at least meeting if not exceeding the specifications.
