Description
Wirral Council currently operates 112 public space CCTV cameras, mainly using BT RS1000 fibre optic communications. The communications and recording equipment is located in the Community Safety Control Room in Birkenhead, with a remote control room located within the same building used by Traffic Management. A link to the Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire & Rescue Joint Command Centre is also in place enabling control of the 112 cameras by the Police. Wireless 3G Deployable CCTV cameras, from various manufacturers, are also in use and are accessed from stand-alone computers. Cameras and recording equipment, with encryption software, are used by the Enforcement Team for covert operations, in accordance with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act. Wirral Council wishes to appoint a single, appropriately experienced, contractor for a period of 2 years, with the option of two 1 year extensions, to maintain existing Public Space CCTV cameras and associated equipment including Coe telemetry receivers together with control room equipment, including monitors and DVRs but excluding existing transmission equipment (BT RS1000 circuits). Sites with RedVision or 360 Vision cameras have Coe-Pelco interface units installed.
