Description
Barton-upon-Humber, as a Principal Town, plays an important role in facilitating North Lincolnshire Council's (NLC) and UK Government's housing and economic growth aspirations. An integrated transport network is required to unlock the growth of the town and to encourage more sustainable modes of transport. NLC have been successful in securing Levelling Up Fund (LUF) monies to deliver the "Barton Connectivity Project" which comprises the following three interventions to help grow and activate the town: • Barton Link Road Phase 1 (01A) - This intervention will deliver Phase 1 (1.6km) of the Barton upon Humber link road. This will divert traffic from the north and east of Barton south onto the B1026 and onwards to the A15. The route of the link road has been defined following public consultation during Summer 2022. The new link road will comprise a shared footway and cycleway running alongside the carriageway, together with landscape buffering. The link road will unlock potential residential development. Once completed, the link road will help alleviate congestion by reducing the need for HGVs and through-traffic to pass through the town centre. Awarded through YORhub Framework YORcivil3.
