Description
Cambridge City Council are working with The Wild Trout Trust to design and deliver enhancement to an existing natural bypass channel that circumvents the Byron's Pool weir on the River Cam at Byron's Pool Local Nature Reserve. Details designs have been produced following advice form the City Council Ecologist, Wild Trout Trust Conservation Officer and technical consultants at 5Rivers Environmental Ltd. The Environment Agency have been consulted and support the proposal, advising that an Environmental Permit is not required for the works, as they are not main river. An Ordinary Water Coarse Consent has been submitted to Cambridgeshire County Council approval as the local flood authority. The works involve removal of existing concrete gabion basket, alterations to bed levels and installation of natural flow deflectors and gravels.
