Description

The capital works include urgent repairs to the historic North Wing, situated within the grounds of Barts NHS Trust in West Smithfield. Work undertaken will lead to improved services to facilitate regular public use and the conservation and representation of the Great Hall and Hogarth Stair. Capital work will comprise of -The complete overhaul of the roof, gutters and rainwater goods -Repair of stone chimneys and stone parapets -Repair and redecoration of windows. -Great Hall & Hogarth Stair: repair and conservation of the ceiling, historic donor boards and panelling, stained glass conservation and fireplaces repairs -Installation of new bespoke lighting, heating and audio systems. -A new kitchen to support events and public use. -Temporary scaffold access as required by the Specialist Conservator, to facilitate the works and the planned public access/engagement tours. This PQQ relates to the Specialist Conservation work to the Great Hall and Hogarth stair only, the other Capital work detailed above will not form part of this contract and a separate 'Base Build' Contractor will be instructed by Barts Heritage. The Specialist Conservator will appointed directly by Barts Heritage but will be expected to work closely with the Base Build contractor and liaise with them in order to co-ordinate works, H&S arrangements, access arrangements including public access/engagement tours. The Specialist Conservator will be required to carry out the repair and conservation of the ceiling, historic donor boards and panelling, stained glass conservation and fireplaces repairs, within the Great Hall and Hogarth Stair.
