Description
PLEASE NOTE: This is no longer an opportunity 'reserved by County' as stated in the original notice. The reservation has been removed. This will be a two stage procurement process. It is an opportunity for works below the public procurement threshold. Interested suppliers are required to complete a PAS91 Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (stage 1) to provide the Council with information to evaluate the supplier's capacity and capability against the selection criteria. A maximum of 5 suppliers will be invited to the tender stage (stage 2). This will be the top five suppliers as determined by the total PQQ evaluation score. The works are located at Towneley Hall, Burnley, Lancashire, BB11 3RQ. The Hall is a Grade 1 listed historic house and museum owned by Burnley Borough Council. This project will undertake essential repairs which have been identified during a quinquennial survey by Knox McConnell conservation architects, who have been appointed as project architects for the repair contract. The construction phase will be undertaken using the JCT Intermediate Form of Contract. Required work includes - replacement of slate roofs to each of the three wings of the Hall, leadwork, gutters and rainwater systems and down pipes. Re-pointing of high-level stonework and dismantling and rebuilding sections. Treatment of dry rot in the north tower and art gallery. Repair of ornate plasterwork ceiling in Great Hall. Repair and replacement (50%) of 130 windows. South Wing - Provision of additional tensional support from roof trusses in the South wing. Repair of ceilings in the Green and Red regency rooms, and realignment of the cantilever staircase. Re-roofing works may be undertaken in three phases, with the scaffold and temporary roof being erected over the Great Hall moving to the north wing followed by the south wing. However, at the tender stage the Council will consider alternative proposals submitted by contractors which may include scaffolding the entire Hall and re-roofing in a single phase
