Description
NHS Brent CCG is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced healthcare providers who would like to be considered for the provision of a Referral Optimisation Service (ROS) for the patients of Brent. The new service will provide a central hub for the whole of Brent through which referrals pass, supporting patient flows and care pathways within the local health economy. Additionally, it will receive consultant to consultant referrals from secondary care in local acute trusts. The new ROS model is expected to initially triage and manage approximately 116,000 clinical referrals per year (rising to 150,000 p.a.) across multiple specialities. The Referral Optimisation Service will be expected to deliver the following outcomes: • Ensure that the uptake of community services and other contracted out services are fully utilised. • Decrease the volume of inappropriate referrals in to secondary care services, and diagnostics. • Improved quality of care within primary and community settings. • Improved referrer access to advice and information, regarding available services and care pathways; • Increased knowledge and awareness of the management of common conditions within Brent, through educational feedback • Increased patient satisfaction with health services. • Improved quality of referrals. • Improve the efficiency of the wider healthcare system in Brent, through improved uptake of appropriate services. • Facilitate clinical pathways develop through improved access to clinical data. Brent CCG does not currently operate a Referral Optimisation Service (ROS) across the whole borough, however one does operate on a voluntary and informal basis in the Harness locality only. The new service contract will be expected to commence in the summer of 2016.
