Description

The Armed Forces have been conducting an Armed Forces Compulsory Drug Testing (AFCDT) Programme since Jan 1995. The Programme is designed to reduce the incidence of drug misuse in the Armed Forces by detection and deterrence. The Programme involves the analysis of urine samples donated by Service personnel and civilians liable to service law. All personnel are liable for testing and currently 100,000-120,000 samples are collected per year. The Programme is controlled by the Ministry of Defence.
