Description

This project aims to investigate the concept of Cultural Heritage for Inclusive Growth in the UK context, using an inclusive empirical approach. The project will seek to, firstly understand the extent to which heritage is inclusive or not, based on existing data on participation and engagement. Secondly, the project will seek to use case study evidence to develop best practice recommendations on how heritage can better contribute to inclusive social and economic outcomes for individuals and communities. The proposed research project is commissioned by Historic England as part of a wider partnership programme with the British Council. Historic England is the government's expert advisory service for England's historic environment. We give constructive advice on the historic environment to local authorities, owners and the public. We champion historic places helping people to understand, value and care for them, now and for the future. The British Council is the UK's international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities. British Council create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries, which includes more than 100 countries across the world in the fields of arts and culture, English language, education and civil society.
