Description

Barrowby village is situated in the county of Lincolnshire, close to the borders of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. The village stands approx. 2 miles outside the town of Grantham, on the A52 road travelling west to Nottingham. It is one of the largest villages in the district of South Kesteven and has a population of approximately 2000 people. Barrowby is also fortunate to have a Victorian Reading Room which was converted in 2000 as a multi-functional meeting venue for groups and village activities. The building remains single glazed and draughty and the Parish Council, who owns the building, is keen to further modernise the building and make it more energy efficient and user friendly. It is hoped that once the refurbishment is completed the building will have greater appeal to a wider range of users. The Parish Council have consulted with a reputable builder to identify priority issues for remedial action and to draw up a specification for the remedial works to be undertaken. The Parish Council now seeks to appoint a suitably skilled, qualified and experienced contractor to complete the specification during the summer of 2016.
