Description
!!!PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A CONTRACT AWARD NOTICE ONLY!!! This requirement was placed under the FATS 5 framework agreement Link 16 provides situational awareness, tactical data and identification information for all aircraft in the TDL operational network. It is possible that Voyager could operate without Link 16 capability in certain 'safe' spheres, e.g. UK airspace where sufficient radar cover exists to ensure positive identification and location. In such cases, operation with other platforms for AT and AAR purposes is possible; however, Link 16 capability is a mission-essential requirement for engaging in operations and can be regarded as a 'go, no-go' standard for coalition operations. (In the case of VC10, Nimrod and TriStar, the fitting of Link 16 was a UOR in 1989 to allow these platforms to participate in coalition operations in the second Gulf war.) Without this capability, Voyager would not be able to operate in either its AT or AAR roles in an operational theatre. !!!PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A CONTRACT AWARD NOTICE ONLY!!!
