Description
The Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales serves a local population of 1.3 million people, 6.7% of whom are from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds (BME). However just 2.2% of our police officers are from BME backgrounds. We are working to address this under-representation so that we can better serve our diverse communities. As a result, supportive course placement is part of a positive action initiative and places are only for people that identify as BME or are from 'White other' backgrounds (e.g. Eastern European). The requirement is for the service provider to deliver support to BME Candidates only, who wish to seek employment within South Wales Police as a Police Officer, Police Community Support Officer, Special Constable and Public Service Centre Operator.
