Description
The National Physical Laboratory [NPL] requires automation to facilitate the synthesis of peptides via 9-Fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl (Fmoc) Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS). The new Peptide Synthesizer system will replace an obsolete and slow model, that is currently producing complex crude peptide mixtures; which are severely hampering productivity in Biometrology. The new synthesizer will therefore produce high purity crude peptides, which will simplify purification and improve productivity. Due to the intrinsically challenging properties of the peptides which are typically assembled at NPL; the new synthesizer must be capable of fully programmable thermally and/or microwave assisted reactions. The synthesis of such challenging sequences via ambient temperature Fmoc SPPS is simply not feasible; and hence this attribute of the new system is absolutely required.
