Description
Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund via 'Digital Volunteering' we are looking to appoint a heritage professional to manage a remote volunteering project with the aim of making the Barnsley Archives Sound and Film collection more accessible. The project will allow those who aren't able to physically visit us to work with and enjoy the collections. We want to analyse, convert, interpret and facilitate the cataloguing of the Barnsley Sound and Film Archive held by Barnsley Archives and Local Studies. Remote volunteers will be trained to help with the processing, interpreting and transcribing. Volunteers will gain new skills and knowledge specific to the archive service and gain unique access to the collection. We are looking for someone comfortable and confident with using digital technology, the handling, cataloguing, and working with collections and in training and development of volunteers using digital formats. The appointed person would be supported by the Barnsley Museums Volunteer Coordinator, the Archives Manager and the wider archives team. There is also provision for volunteer needs as part of the funding. Full brief attached in documents section and the value of tender is £25,000, the project is aimed to be completed by Dec 2022.
