Description
The Community Kitchen programme delivers free six week "cook and eat courses" to residents at seven estate based community kitchens and temporary housing locations across the borough. The Public Health funding is used to deliver tailored cook and eat courses and communications plans designed by the provider. The programmes aim to improve the confidence and skills of residents to produce nutritious affordable meals from scratch. The skills gained aimed to tackle the obesity epidemic as well as reduce social isolation for many residents in Hackney. The programme was initially commissioned on a pilot basis and the providers were given latitude to design a service tailored to the needs of the local community.
