Description
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP) is the key intergovernmental means of negotiating nations' steps for climate mitigation and adaptation. The ocean is becoming increasing part of the agenda since the inclusion of the ocean in the COP. It is important that Defra participates in ocean activities at the UNFCCC. The next COP(25) will be on 2-14 December 2019 and will be another crucial event for intergovernmental negotiations on future greenhouse gas emissions on the lead up to the 5 year review of National Determined Contributions at the COP26 in 2020. Defra will participate in COP25 and draw on the contracotr's expertise in the holding of ocean side events and ensuring high-level participation, collaboration and visibility at this key international policy event.
