Fire - Fire Prevention (20% VAT)

The Council has 183 blocks equipped with bin chutes; a number of the blocks have multiple bin chutes, bringing the total number of chutes in the borough to 220. A fire risk assessment has been completed to all blocks to establish the nature and extent of remedial repairs required to bring all associated equipment up to the required standard for compliance with current Fire Safety Regulations. The nature and extent of repairs required vary between the 183 blocks and is inclusive of replacement hopper doors, fire closure plates, fusible links, and smoke seals: adjustment of existing hopper doors, and minor building works. Provisional quantities have been established from the fire risk assessment data; the specific quantities and scope will need to be determined through inspections prior to commencing works and confirmed by Contract Instruction.
