Description

AWARD NOTICE - The University of Aberdeen is leading the research and development efforts of Fast Field-Cycling imaging (FFC imaging). This is a new technology that derives from MRI but allows controlling the main magnetic field, contrary to conventional scanners that operate at a fixed magnetic field strength. To achieve such a level of control the main magnet must be carefully designed to exhibit a low inductance so that it can be driven to alter its field strength within 10 to 20 ms (ramp time), using gradient-type power supplies.
