Description

In September and October 2016 work was carried out to integrate a number of asset datasets for drainage items in to one asset list for Cumbria. This was provided to a supplier to use as part of an additional winter cleanse contract. As part of this contract the supplier clarified the asset items and added additional asset items discovered to the inventory. The revised inventory therefore represents the latest information on the network showing 134,933 gully assets. Dedicated software has been introduced to manage the gully and drainage assets. This software, provided by KaarbonTech systems, provides the authority with central access to the inventory, cleansing information and oversight of the field operations. The Highways Strategy has identified that the drainage inventory is critical for developing our asset based approach. This is a need to review and update the remaining asset inventory. Additionally, there is limited knowledge of the pipework and connections the gully network utilises. There is only very limited information on existing culverts and chambers on the network. The Council's Infrastructure Recovery Programme has identified a need to carry out advanced works prior to consultants or contractors being commissioned. These advance works include cleaning and proving drainage systems, CCTV surveys and mapping of the assets. Work being carried out by the Lead Local Flood Authority requires a similar services including: asset identification and mapping, cleansing, CCTV and investigation and rectification of blockages. The services required under this contract include: a) Asset collection and mapping b) CCTV Surveys c) Cleansing and Jetting of gullies and drainage systems d) Maintenance and development of the Council's software system during the period of the contract
