Description
Objective The National Health Service Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) provides a serum eyedrop service for patients affected by severe ocular surface disease. Serum is processed from whole blood donations collected from patients or volunteer donors into collection packs containing no anticoagulant. The serum is separated from the red cells and diluted with saline within the closed collection bag system. It must then be dispensed into individual containers before being issued to patients. This document details the requirements for a closed multi-dose dispensing system for serum eyedrops that is compatible with sterile connection to the collection bag system, for the purpose of informing a formal tender. Changes in this version Amendments to annual usage, label dimensions and number of containers per chain. Tamper evident now a requirement and external packaging requirement removed. Changes not highlighted purple due to the number of changes made within the document.
