Description
Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy has been utilised within the Bristol Breast Care Centre for some 15 years. The unit has already looked at a number of devices on the market as the devices currently in use are coming to the end of their useful life. Warranties are in place for the current devices but there may be a reduced capability to repair them in the near future. An extensive examination of the Trust's requirements has been undertaken and a detailed specification has been prepared. The Trust has decided to frame this procurement in terms of either bids for a lease deal or a placement deal so as to offer prospective bidders the greatest amount of flexibility. Due to the intention to contract over 5 years (with an additional x2 12 month extension period) it was felt that the optimal route to market in terms of effectiveness and efficiency would be via an open OJEU process.
