Description
ON BEHALF OF CHICHESTER DISTRICT COUNCIL. Chichester District Council have awarded a three-year contract to WP Group (Wessex Petroleum Ltd) for a diesel fuel provision through the Heating Oil, Motor Fuel and Biofuel Framework to ensure continuity of diesel fuel supply with the intension to make the switch to Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel in the near future. Making the change during the lifetime of the contract is allowable under the framework. Diesel fuel has been chosen in the first instance to allow for a contract to be put in place whilst the option of HVO fuel is continued to be explored, and if it is, the Council will then switch to using this source of fuel instead. HVO is a renewable diesel alternative made from waste oils and fats, such as used cooking oil, animal fats, and vegetable oils. It offers significant environmental benefits, including up to 90% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to traditional diesel, as well as lower levels of nitrogen oxide. HVO is part of the paraffinic family of fuels and is fully compatible with existing diesel engines and infrastructure, requiring no modifications to vehicles or storage systems.
